Give me S'more S'mores Bar

Ingredients

  • 8 graham crackers, each one split in half to make 16 pieces
  • 8 squares premium chocolate such as Scharffenberger or other candy bars (see below)
  • 16 large marshmallows
  • Extra long bamboo skewers, soaked in water Parchment Paper

Grilling Method: Direct/High Heat

Basic S'mores:

Place graham cracker halves on a tray. Set a square of candy bar or chocolate on top of half of them. If desired, add 1 or 2 pieces of fruit or nuts to each piece. Thread marshmallows onto the end of each skewer: Hold the marshmallows just above the cooking grate directly over high heat and turn slowly until lightly browned, 2 to 3 minutes.

Slide two warm marshmallow onto each graham cracker and candy half. Place the remaining graham cracker halves on top. Gently press together and enjoy immediately.

To set up your own S'mores bar, give each guest 4 marshmallows a skewer and a plate, let them use their imagination to build a candy-land fantasy S'more. Below are some suggested sweets to put between the white fluff and the graham crackers:

Classic S'Mores: My grill friend, Lisa Taylor tested all of the recipes for this cookbook prior to publication. When it came to making S'mores, she couldn't wait to show me her take on the slumber party classic. Here's how she made S'mores so good that we all were begging for S'mores breaks. Use the classic Hershey chocolate bar, generic marshmallows which aren't quite as sweet as the name brand version, and plain graham crackers. Roast the marshmallows over the burners turning to brown all sides, meanwhile warm Graham crackers and six squares of the Hershey bar over indirect heat. Place two roasted marshmallows on top of the melted chocolate and press down with the top half of the Graham cracker. This way, the chocolate is melted and the Graham crackers are warm which makes the cold chocolate, burned marshmallow S'mores of Girl Scout fame Pale in comparison! Each wrapped package of Graham crackers will actually make 9 S'mores…that's an extra one for the griller! And if you think that is good, try Lisa's S'mores genius and substitute a large Reese's Peanut Butter Cup for the Hershey's Chocolate. It just doesn't get any better than this!
